Town Players of New Canaan and Open Arts Alliance of Greenwich are proud to announce a unique partnership between their two arts organizations. The initiative aimed at increasing performance opportunities for student actors in the local area has been led by Patricia Spugani, co-president of TPNC.

Ms. Spugani says, “Since its founding in 1947, TPNC’s mission has included ’the advancement of education in drama and theatre’.  For several years our classes have been limited to adults.  With OAA, we are pleased to once again offer community-based theatre programs for kids – both on stage and back stage – to let kids explore their creative expression.”   The June 28th 3pm and 5pm performances of Willy Wonka KIDS are pleased to feature New Canaan residents Teddy & Wesley Benenson, Miles &  Izzy Langrick, joined by other students from Greenwich, Darien, Stamford, and Norwalk.

This summer’s partnership features students from New Canaan and the surrounding communities in four separate productions: Willy Wonka KIDS, Broadway Beat, Disney’s Alice In Wonderland Jr. and RENT (School Edition). The four productions are produced by Open Arts Alliance with a unique partnership between OAA and TPNC for Willy Wonka KIDS. This production, being offered in two two-week sessions will feature nearly 50 students from New Canaan, Greenwich and surrounding towns with thanks, in part, to participation support from the Exchange Club of New Canaan.

A beloved family classic, Willy Wonka KIDS tells the story of the delicious adventures experienced by Charlie Bucket on his visit to Willy Wonka’s mysterious chocolate factory. Enigmatic candy manufacturer, Willy Wonka, stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whomever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory. But there’s more than just chocolate to learn about on this magical journey. This captivating adaptation of Roald Dahl’s fantastical tale features the enchanting songs from the 1971 film starring Gene Wilder, in addition to a host of fun new songs, Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka KIDS is a scrumdidilyumptious musical guaranteed to delight everyone’s sweet tooth.

Families are encouraged to come see this exciting show that proves you’re never too old for adventure!
