Hi New Canaan Moms!
My name is Jill Tobin and I have lived in New Canaan for almost 4 years but I’m originally from the Boston area. My husband John and I have been married for ten years and we have three children, Hailey (7), Casey (5) and Jack (2). I am a stay at home mother to our kids and also the President of the Young Women’s League of New Canaan.
What I love most about living in New Canaan is the feeling of small town New England and the sense of community. My favorite family events in town are the May Fair and Easter Egg Hunt and I’m also beyond excited for the inaugural Masked Ball for Children in Need on October 28th put on by the YWL. The league provides so many great opportunities for kids and moms alike to have fun and give back to the community.
In general, my favorite things to do with the kids are anything that involves being outside. As they are getting older, I love to watch them playing sports or going for a family walk at Irwin Park. There is also nothing better than going out to dinner one on one or a good game of UNO with the girls. Now that Halloween is around the corner, we are enjoying my very new favorite Halloween tradition; decorating our yard. Something I swore I would never do is now something super fun with the kids. We have spider webs, spinning ghosts, a life size Skelton and a grave yard.
When it comes to eating, my kids are pretty picky but one thing they love is taco night where they are free to create their own dinners. If we do sneak out to eat, it usually involves pizza at Locali or recently Spiga. For shopping, the kids love crewcuts and Scout & Molly is my go to.
One thing most people don’t know about me is that I know the words to every song I have ever heard. Ironically, I can’t sing! In my free time you will find me playing tennis, in a spin or barre class or out with friends.
