Golden Anniversary Gala to Honor Lone Pine Foundation, Inc. Kaye and James Barker, and the volunteers of OPUS for Person-to-Person Scheduled for November 17, 2018

To commemorate “50 years of Transforming Lives,” Person-to-Person (P2P) will celebrate its golden anniversary with the “Transforming Lives” gala on Saturday, November 17, from 6pm – 11pm at the Hyatt Regency in Old Greenwich. Tickets will go on sale in September.
To mark this milestone year, Person-to-Person will honor three long-standing supporters. Lone Pine Foundation, Inc. for their continued commitment to helping Person-to-Person grow and expand to meet the increasing community needs; Kaye and James Barker for their extraordinary vision, leadership and generosity that has impacted thousands of lives starting back in the early 1980s when Kaye served as Person-to-Person’s Executive Director; and the volunteers of OPUS for Person-to-Person who, for more than 22 years, have proven that women united in a shared goal are a powerful force.
Event Chairs Doon Foster, Kristina Gregory, Judy Kilmartin and Kelly Wheeler are overseeing the gala committee of more than 35 dedicated volunteers and P2P supporters.
The Gold sponsor for the event is GE Energy Financial Services, with Silver sponsors to include Finn Dixon Herling, Pitney Bowes, Stephen and Alexanadra Cohen Foundation, and US Chemicals-WOB and with Bronze sponsors to include Baywater Properties, PG Properties, Cummings and Lockwood, Fairfield County Bank, Gleason & Associates LLC, Halstead Real Estate, Lake Point Capital, LLC, Lone Pine Foundation, Inc., Palmer’s Market, and Ring’s End Lumber.
The gala will feature a cocktail hour, a sit-down dinner, live band, dancing and paddle raise. The event is anticipating an attendance of 500 people. Guests will include the countless volunteers, supporters and sponsors who are “good as gold” and who have been pivotal to the 50-year success of Person-to-Person.
Proceeds will support P2P programs, serving more than 24,000 individuals annually. By helping families in crisis, P2P provides a pathway out of poverty for people seeking long-term stability.
P2P Executive Director Ceci Maher shares the agency’s origins as a tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., saying, “Rev. Dr. Robert Nelson Back, former rector of Saint Luke’s Parish in Darien, attended seminary with Dr. King and wanted the community to respond to his assassination as well as to growing civil rights issues,” says Maher. “Parish member Jean Sherman became the agency’s first Executive Director, and P2P has continued to grow from there.”
