I grew up in New Canaan and just recently moved back from Los Angeles where I lived for many years. We are so happy to be back and our two boys, ages 4 and 6, are enjoying their new schools, friends and the seasons! New Canaan is such a special place to raise kids, and I love the fact that NYC is not far from our doorstep – whether I’m going in for meetings or a city fix with my kids.
We already have our favorite haunts such as New Canaan Pizza, which the boys look forward to on Friday nights. My husband and I love Locali for long lazy weekend lunches with the boys, South End and the Roger Sherman Bar for dinner. I love shopping in town to support local vendors and our community.
On the weekends we’ll often have spontaneous adventures such as trips to Chinatown, Little Italy, museums and trying different foods whether in restaurants or cooking them at home together. I believe that it’s crucial to raise our children to be good Young Global Citizens so learning about and appreciating other languages and cultures is high on our list.
I’m the founder of Early Lingo, the children’s foreign language learning system. Growing up I learned several languages but there were limited resources. Over the years, I never found anything of substance for kids on the market and wanted to create a program for children that would be fun, entertaining and easily accessible. We recently launched our comprehensive Early Lingo Language Learning Apps for Kids, which consist of the entire Early Lingo curriculum in digital form. They’re interactive and chock full of fun lessons and educational games for children. And I’m proud to say that we’re already partnered with New Canaan Country School where they are using the app in the early childhood and lower schools.
Early Lingo has a #sayitforward campaign which donates one app to an underprivileged school for each app purchase. My boys love getting involved with the campaign because they know they’re helping to give less fortunate kids a chance at quality education.
