How long have you lived in New Canaan?
We have lived in New Canaan for 2 & 1/2 years.
How many kids and their age(s)?
I have a son who just turned 5 in August and my daughter recently celebrated her 2nd birthday.
One thing people would be surprised to know about you…
One thing that people would be surprised about me is that I am addicted to watching CNBC and The Profit. I love shows that showcase entrepreneurs and budding businesses. Having been a business owner myself, I have a lot of admiration for people who are creating and succeeding in fields they are passionate about.
Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?
Everyday I am inspired by all the beautiful moms here in New Canaan! Its encouraging to watch the modern day mom juggle all of the roles and responsibilities that is expected in today’s society. I also wouldn’t be who I am today without the help and support of my own Mom.
Favorite things to do with your kids?
I love to take my children to the beach. My absolute favorite thing to do with them is travel down to Florida where we visit with my family and enjoy the sunshine.
What is your local go-to store for children’s clothes? Shoes? Furniture?
My go-to store for children’s clothing in New Canaan is Crewcuts. For myself I like Scout & Molly’s for women clothing and Walin & Wolff for shoes. The one store I cannot stay away from though is She La La! I love their selection of personalized gifts and jewelry.
What are your favorite events in New Canaan?
New Canaan has so many fun events annually its hard to pick just a few. I definitely look forward to the July 4th firework spectacular, the town puts on an amazing show at Waveny Park. Its such a great gathering of friends and neighbors. I also enjoy the town’s Halloween parade, seeing all the kids dressed up trick or treating along Elm. Another favorite event of mine is when Santa comes to Mead park on a helicopter, you cant help but feel the excitement of the holiday season. I feel so fortunate to live in a place where there is always something going on and fun to be had!
What are your favorite restaurants in New Canaan?
Whenever my husband and I have a child-free Saturday morning we love to brunch at Rosie’s, taking our time to enjoy their honey cinnamon latte’s and decadent muffins. The boys in my house are big fans of the burgers at Cherry Street East.
What is your favorite kid-friendly recipe?
Roasted pork loin with apples and onions is always a hit with the kids, its easy to make and healthy! I rub dijon mustard, salt & pepper along the pork and sear its evenly on each side 1-2 minutes. Once the meat is done I place it on a baking pan along with sliced apple and onion and cook it in the oven at 375° for 30-35 minutes.
Favorite hobbies?
I just took up Tennis a year ago and I am hooked, its a nice way to clear my mind focusing only on improving my skills and not thinking about monotonous mommy things. I also enjoy reading, traveling, and spending time with family & friends.
What do you enjoy being involved in around town?
This year I am looking forward to being on the board of New Canaan’s Newcomers Club, a social club that welcomes new residents through various activities and charitable giving. I also look forward to participating in my son’s first year of elementary school at New Canaan’s East School.
