Russian School of Mathematics (RSM) Opening New Location in Greenwich! - New Canaan & Darien Moms

Russian School of Mathematics (RSM) is an award-winning, after school math enrichment program that has been trusted by parents in North America for over 25 years. This September, RSM is opening a new branch in Greenwich, CT, the fourth branch in the region including Stamford, Rocky Hill, and Avon.

RSM’s approach to mathematics consists of a continuous K-12 curriculum, taught by expert teachers, in a classroom environment of peers who study together year over year. Featured in NPR and The Atlantic as one of the key players in the “Math Revolution” and ranked “among the top schools in the world” by the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth, RSM helps children develop math fluency, intellect, and character, empowering them for life.

RSM Greenwich will open in September and is currently enrolling students for the Fall. After-school math classes at RSM Greenwich will meet anywhere from 1.5 to 4 hours per week, depending on the grade level. The class schedule for RSM Greenwich is available on RSM’s website. In addition to its core program, RSM also offers a competition track designed for students interested in advanced mathematical topics as well as participating in elite math competitions.

Meet the Regional Director

Bing Schwaller is the Regional Director of RSM Southern Connecticut, comprising RSM Greenwich, Stamford, and Scarsdale branches. Bing earned a B.S. and an M.Eng. in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University and later used her analytical skills to build a career in energy and finance. After having two children, Bing was searching for a way to instill her passion for math in them. This led her to RSM. She learned about RSM’s unique teaching method and immediately fell in love with the program and the community. Both of her children have been RSM students ever since and they continue to learn and grow at RSM today.

“As a Greenwich resident, I am excited to bring RSM to my neighbors,” Bing said. “I am looking forward to introducing RSM to the Greenwich community at the upcoming Riverside Run happening on May 10, which RSM Greenwich is proudly sponsoring.”

Meet the Principal

Anh Tang will be the principal of RSM Greenwich. She has been with RSM since 2016 and is currently the campus principal of RSM Stamford. Her professional experience includes a career in banking and financial services from structured and corporate finance with Merrill Lynch and HSBC to card product launches with American Express. As a mom of three boys, she was inspired to become a math teacher at RSM and is dedicated to ensuring that all students develop a lasting understanding and love of mathematics.

About RSM’s Unique Approach

A program built around how a child’s mind works: Designed as a continuous program from K-12, RSM’s curriculum was developed by a team of academics specializing in mathematics, education, and child development. RSM’s curriculum has continually been perfected by our curriculum department over the last 25+ years.

Multiple levels for every grade: Three levels for every grade allows RSM to meet children where they are and place them in an environment suited to them. This ensures that students can begin our program at any time and be challenged appropriately in an environment of peers.

Talented faculty: All of RSM’s teachers have a background in mathematics or a related field and a deep passion for the subject. Students are guided to think about mathematics logically and conceptually, building deep connections between concepts, all in a classroom environment that keeps children consistently challenged.
