New Canaan Library – Growing Through Nature and Connection: Integrating Therapy, Play, and Animal Interactions
Tuesday, June 2, 2026
10:30am–12:30pm
Spending time in nature and engaging with animals play powerful roles in improving regulation, supporting sensory integration, strengthening communication skills, building confidence and reducing stress. Join our expert panel of Ridgebury Farm and Stables staff in exploring what happens when we allow real world experiences to guide how children learn, grow, and connect.
Sophia Skolnick, OTR/L, Kristen Gurzi, CCC-SLP, Katy Schermann, Executive Director, and Katie Diamond, Director of Strategic Initiatives, will share how therapeutic approaches—such as occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech-language therapy, hippotherapy, and mental health support—can be integrated seamlessly into natural environments to enhance outcomes. Parents will leave with a fresh perspective on child development and a deeper understanding of how a supportive environment paired with the right therapies can make a meaningful difference.
