Here’s Why It’s a Must for Local Families This Fall
If you’re anything like us, you’re always on the lookout for ways to keep your little ones active, engaged and outside the house. Well, good news, you can mark your calendars because The Darien Arts Center (DAC) is celebrating its 50th anniversary this fall, and they are pulling out all the stops for families like ours.

The whole season is packed with creative, fun, and enriching activities for all ages, even for the littles. Their brand new Grown Up & Me class is a playful movement class where caregivers and toddlers (ages 18 months–3 years) get to dance, wiggle, and explore together. Consider it built-in bonding time

If your child is ready for their first solo steps into dance, the DAC’s Pre-Ballet and Kinder Ballet programs should be on your list. The teachers are gentle and encouraging, the perfect introduction to dance for tiny twirlers.
And it doesn’t stop at dance! They’re also offering Art Explorations for little budding artists, family-friendly workshops like a lantern-making session at NAYA, and even musical theater audition classes for older kids who love the spotlight, and could be our next Broadway stars!
Here are a few can’t-miss fall events happening at DAC’s charming Weatherstone Theater:
-
Headless Horseman Storytelling Night – October 18 (Spooky, but not too spooky
) -
A Tale of Two Prodigies with Orchestra Lumos – October 19 (Yes, live music!)
-
Kids Halloween Glow Party – October 24 (Glow sticks, dancing, and sugar? Yes, please!)
-
East Coast Contemporary Ballet’s “Reflections” – October 25 (A perfect parents night out!)
We absolutely love to see local, enriching places like DAC thrive. “For 50 years, the DAC has been a place where creativity grows,” said Wendy Mitchell, Executive Director. “We’re especially excited to welcome more young families into our programs this fall.” And, we couldn’t agree more.
The DAC has been nurturing creativity right here in Darien and now they’re expanding their offerings for young families, which is such a gift.
Whether you’re looking for a new activity for your toddler, hoping to spark your child’s love of the arts, or just need something magical to look forward to this fall, the Darien Arts Center is the place to be.
