June 5 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Friday, June 5, 2026
10:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Carriage Barn Arts Center, 681 South Avenue, New Canaan, CT,

Come discover and create using the encaustic art medium!

Artist and instructor Carolyn Childs introduces the versatility of encaustic painting — come explore a variety of techniques using a hot iron and encaustic wax to create unique works on multiple surfaces.

Carolyn will also introduce collage elements, layering imagery and materials beneath translucent beeswax to create richly textured, luminous mixed-media pieces.

Bring your curiosity and willingness to explore and enjoy this restorative, creative experience!

Encaustic is an ancient method of painting with wax. Pure beeswax is blended with resin and pigment, then applied in layers. Each layer is melted and fused with heat to the surface, creating depth, texture, and a beautiful luminous finish. Learn to work confidently with hot wax to create expressive and beautiful works of art.
