The Young Women’s League of New Canaan and the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce are pleased to announce the 2nd Annual “Fall Into New Canaan: Celebrate the Season in our Village”. The town-wide shopping event will take place on Saturday, September 8th, with a preview coffee hour shopping event on Friday, September 7th from 10 AM to 12 PM.
At participating stores, up to 15% of purchases during the event will support the YWL Giving Fund and the event’s Featured Beneficiary: Filling in the Blanks. Filling in the Blanks, founded by two New Canaan residents, is dedicated to fighting childhood hunger locally by providing children in need with meals on the weekends.
“We are so honored and excited to be partnering with the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce again this year” said Marley Thackray, president of the Young Women’s League. “Our planning committee has scheduled a full day of family-friendly activities in the Pop Up Park area – it will be a great way to catch up after the summer, support the fantastic businesses here and enjoy our beautiful village together ” A full schedule of activities will be published on the YWL website www.ywlnewcanaan.org at the end of the month.
Families, businesses and other organizations can purchase kits to participate in New Canaan’s second annual Scarecrow Decorating Contest, generously sponsored by Weed & Duryea. Scarecrows will again hang from the lamp posts in town from October 14th-31st, and winners will be announced at the Halloween Parade on October 29th. Reserve a lamp post with your $30 (Family) & $50(Organizations & businesses) donation at www.ywlnewcanaan.org/Scarecrow-Fest.

This event kicks off the 2018-2019 giving year for the YWL, which will include new, exciting events and some old favorites, including the 46th Annual Easter Egg Hunt and 2nd Annual Kentucky Derby Party. Funds raised for the YWL Giving Fund will support the “Healthy Together, Stronger Together” theme. The opening meeting for members will be held on September 20th.
