The Young Women’s League of New Canaan and the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce are pleased to announce the Inaugural “Fall Into New Canaan”. The town-wide shopping event will take place on Saturday, September 9th.
At participating stores, 15% of purchases during the event will support the YWL Giving Fund and the event’s Featured Beneficiary: Meals on Wheels New Canaan.
“A host of family friendly activities will take place in the Pop-Up Park throughout the day” said Maia Sapanski, president of the Young Women’s League. “Arrive early to get a little zen at a children’s yoga session led by Angie Mandl, a YWL member and certified Yoga instructor. Stay to get glam with Salon 5 East who will be offering braids, glitter and color hair extensions. Pop back in the afternoon for a little music courtesy of New Canaan Music store.” A full schedule of activities can be found on the YWL website www.ywlnewcanaan.org.
Families, businesses and other organizations can purchase kits to participate in New Canaan’s first annual Scarecrow Decorating Contest. Scarecrows will hang from the lamp posts in town from October 14th-29th, and winners will be announced at the Halloween Parade on October 29th. Reserve a lamp post with your $30 donation at www.ywlnewcanaan.org/Scarecrow-Fest.
“Our Chamber mission is to ‘Connect the Community with Commerce’ and how better to do that than partnering with the Young Women’s League for a new all day event that centers around shopping locally,” Said Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Tucker Murphy. “We are so proud to have been asked and are looking forward to a wonderful day!”
This event kicks off the new year for the YWL, which will include new, exciting events and some old favorites, including the 45th Annual Easter Egg Hunt and 2nd Annual Kids Fun Run. Funds raised for the YWL Giving Fund will support a “Strong Women, Strong Communities” theme. The opening meeting for members will be held on September 13th.
