Griffin Lee Artisans are not furniture makers but artists at one with nature, and they recently took over a 3,600ft space in Danbury, Connecticut. Their one-of-a-kind table range, inspired by local materials and natural elements are causing quite a stir. With only seven tables currently in existence and a US patent on the striking live edge design, the ‘Black Copper Fire Collection’ unites the four elements. These are represented by American black walnut (earth) copper (fire) and starphire glass (wind and water).

These highly sought after tables are created by Chief Designer and Master Craftsman Andrew Griffing and business partner Daniel Lee. The coffee table was created back in April 2016, and quickly sold. Daniel, who grew up in Rowayton and raised his family in New Canaan, Connecticut says: “We wanted to use American Black Walnut because it is indigenous to the area. We acquire ours from Wilton and Bethel. The highly prized dark hardwood holds its shape and has a strong grain, that’s when we decided to compliment it with a pure metal like copper. The starphire glass is high clarity made with very low amounts of iron, which removes the greenish tint. The glass channel is immensely popular, especially for clients who have beautiful rugs or carpets. This enables them to showcase both. The timeless design of the table will ensure it is enjoyed by generations to come.”
With entryway, coffee and dining tables as well as desks, Griffin Lee Artisans also create custom tables to your specifications, with a lead time of 8 – 12 weeks. The high quality, handcrafted finish is a piece of design excellence and compliments modern and traditional rooms. Daniel says: “With our unique design the tables are instantly recognizable and because we are going to limit how many are made. Each one is branded with the Griffin Lee Artisan signature hallmark. We are very excited about what the future holds.”
