MEET A MOM: Casey McBride of The Depot Youth Center | New Canaan & Darien Moms

Meet Casey McBride, a mom of four boys who moved with to Darien 10 years ago from Rowayton. Casey has been teaching yoga for 22 years and loves it because “it doesn’t feel like a job!” Very active in the community, she serves on the Board of Directors for The Depot Youth Center and is Event Chair for the organization’s largest fundraiser of the year, 80’s After Dark, which is coming up on March 25. Read more about Casey and find out how to reserve your spot for “The hottest ticket in town!”

What brought you to Darien and how long have you lived here?

We moved to Darien 10 years ago after outgrowing our house in Rowayton, and we loved the neighborhood and the community!

How many kids do you have and what are their ages/grades?
We have 4 boys, Liam, 18 (senior DHS), Max, 15 (freshman DHS) and twins Callum and Jude, 12 (6th grade at MMS).

How long have you been a yoga instructor? What’s your favorite part about the job?
I have been teaching yoga for 22 years and I love it because it doesn’t feel like a job! I learn something new with every student I teach and love to make an impact on their lives.

How has the Depot Youth Center been helpful to your own children?
The Depot has been a great way for my kids to connect with others, while learning some life skills in the process.

How long have you been involved in The Depot Youth Center?
I have been involved with the Depot for roughly five years now, but this is my first official year on The Board.

As Committee Chair for ‘80s After Dark, you’ve been working hard on planning the benefit. Tell us about the upcoming fundraiser and live concert on March 25 and why it’s the “hottest ticket in town!” The event was so good last year that we decided to do it again—You can’t get enough of Rubix Kube!! This year the event will be held at Woodway Country Club, and we have some awesome “extras” in store for the crowds, so bring your “A” game, both in the costume and dance category!

Can people still get tickets? YES!  We are close to capacity, but there are a few left. Grab yours today! Buy tickets HERE!

What is your favorite ‘80s song, band, movie, actor, tv show, dance move…?
The best dance move is definitely the Running Man! I LOVED Prince and Michael Jackson as a kid, but also a sucker for “Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey. Jake from Sixteen Candles was my hero, and list of movies goes on and on…but I’m pretty sure I watched Grease and Jaws daily after school in the 80’s!

How can people get in involved in the Deport and lend their support?

We have plenty of volunteer opportunities to get involved, please reach out if you are interested in volunteering at any of the events!  We are also thrilled to have any new corporate sponsors, or any donations come our way!
