What has been the most difficult age with your children? What helped you overcome the challenges?
No one specific age, but the age at which I needed to start teaching and reinforcing the importance of honesty. For Lulu it started, perhaps, around the age of 8 or 9. But it isn’t specific to one age. It’s an ongoing lesson that I try and teach and reinforce every day.
One thing that people would be surprised to know about you?
I’ve run two marathons, and I tried to make it in the music scene as a musician and singer in Nashville.
What is the one piece of advice you would pass along to other moms?
Listen with your eyes, and see with your ears.
What was the best advice your mom gave you?
“I will ALWAYS be there for you. No matter what.” I have raised Lulu essentially by myself. My mom was always there to help guide me at all of the pivotal times in raising my daughter. Whether it was when it was time to move her from a crib to a bed, potty training, etc. She was a strong and grounded parental figure in helping me and Lulu to establish a routine – one that was appropriate at the time and for Lulu’s age.
Anything else you want to add?
I am very excited about bringing Nantucket Monogram, a store I’ve worked hard to make successful in Nantucket since 2009, to New Canaan. It brings me closer to “home” and allows me to couple my interior design skills and experience with the love for monogramming that I learned from both my Mother and Grandmother. I’m inspired to bring a new evolution of Nantucket Monogram to town, that will feature personalized gifts, home decor and more. We are even offering classes in hand embroidery, for a fun and different night out with the girls. I’m in the process of joining the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce, and very excited to become more involved in activities around town.
