Meet Kellee! | New Canaan & Darien Moms

I was born and raised in Fairfield County and always dreamed of living in New Canaan. When I met my husband it was easy to convince him to move here. It offered everything we wanted for us and our children. We moved here three years ago, and now have two children. Our oldest son Sammy is 5, and our other son Joey was born 9 months ago.

What drew me to New Canaan first and foremost were the schools. I wanted the best education for my children and I love what this town views as important. I’m excited to watch Sammy enter East School in September.

Another selling point for me was what the center of town has to offer. I love checking out the variety of stores and restaurants. I always find something unique at She-la-la. I usually buy fun jewelry, gifts for friends, and adorable clothing for my boys. Since I indulge in shopping for them, I’m also found shopping at the Athletic Shoe Factory, New Canaan Toy Store, and the Toy Chest of New Canaan. They are must-stops whenever we get the chance.

There are so many fun events that occur every year in town, we have had some memorable nights during the Holiday Stroll. It’s the perfect way to get into the winter spirit! During the spring we love watching Sammy and his friends play soccer and baseball. Every summer I look forward to the restaurants opening their windows and setting up outdoor seating. It’s always fun to head to dinner and run into friends dining outside. And during my favorite season, Halloween is super fun in town. The kids enjoy their treats and we love chatting with other parents!

Without question, our favorite event is when Santa comes to town! We go to Mead Park, watch him arrive by helicopter in the outfield of the baseball field, and then after shaking hands and taking pictures, he gets on the firetruck and drives downtown where he can greet all the kids. There are refreshments and music, and it is a really fun time to be in New Canaan!

When it comes to restaurants, I truly believe there is no better place to be than New Canaan for any type of food you want. Our family loves to eat at Sole for the wide range of great food and friendly wait-staff. We have made it our family traditions to always have dinner there for Sammy’s Birthday, as well as dine there every New Year’s Eve. The restaurant is decorated with such a great holiday vibe. I also love Cava, Elm, and Chef Luis, and for a night with my girlfriends, I always have a good time at Uncorked, South End, or the new Gates!

I am Italian and I love to cook. Sammy loves mommy’s pasta and meatballs, but I also try and make him fun recipes where I hide healthier ingredients! Cooking for my family and friends brings me great satisfaction, and it also is the cause for one of my favorite things to do, which is gardening. I grow tomatoes, green peppers, basil, zucchini, eggplant, kale and attempting green beans! There is nothing more exciting for me than cooking for my family with foods that I grew myself!

My newest passion is getting back into what I did before I lived in town, which was working with children. I have decided to start “Kellee’s Kids”, an enrichment group. I am a certified teacher with over 10 years of teaching experience, and was a nanny in this town for 15 years prior to teaching.  I will be operating out of my house a few days from 9am-12 (walkers-3) and 1pm-3:30pm (ages 3-5) for small group instruction. There will be reading and math along with some movement, music, and art on both a group and individual basis. We accept weekly reservations, or drop-offs for Mom’s who need some last-minute help. I am so excited for Kellee’s Kids to open this fall, and am glad to being able to do it in the town I love so much!
