It’s a little strange to answer your own interview questions, but here I go 🙂
Where are you from originally? How long have you lived in New Canaan? How many kids and their age(s)?
I grew up in Southern California (Irvine). My brother and I were born in NYC, but moved out West when we were very young. I’ve grown up visiting relatives on the East Coast and always knew I would live here one day. We moved out to New Canaan 5 years ago with our 10 month old son, Dylan. Within a moment (it seems) our house became very full with the addition of Chase and Riley, now 4 and 2.
One thing people would be surprised to know about you? What are your favorite hobbies?
Something people might be surprised to know about me is that I can knock out a 500 piece jigsaw puzzle in a matter of a few hours. Totally useless talent, but I love it. I did 1,000 piece puzzles before the births of all of my kids. Or at least the first two. Third is a bit foggy. My other favorite hobby, hands down is tennis! I’m simply obsessed and love the women I have met through NCRC.
Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?
YES! My mom. She has given me the gift of calm. No matter how serious (or not serious) the problem is that I call her with, she always manages to make me feel instant relief with her quick wit and humor. I love that she always picks up when I call.
Favorite things to do with your kids? Any special holiday traditions?
My favorite thing to do with my kids…hmmm…always thought my answer would be crafting! But, that seems more stressful than fun lately. I think movie night is my favorite. Sometimes we move the coffee table out of the family room and blow up a queen mattress for the kids and it makes it more of an event. They get really excited. We always have loads of popcorn and candy. All around win.
My favorite holiday tradition was introduced to me by my husband’s family. Every December, we keep a slice of our Christmas tree stump and mark the names of whoever is around that Christmas. We started it together the year we met. It’s amazing how quickly the stumps collect and it’s hard to believe that we started out with just two names.
What are your favorite events in New Canaan?
My favorite NC event is the holiday stroll. Strolling down Elm street with the lit trees, beautiful stores and hot chocolate in hand is a dream come true for me (the kids like it too). CA palm trees dressed in lights and Santa in a convertible just doesn’t do it for me! I love our town!
What is your local go-to store for children’s clothes?
I frequent CrewCuts for clothes. They always have great sales. Ella and Henry for special pieces (or should I say “Riley pieces”). We love stopping at MacKenzie’s for special treats.
What are your favorite restaurants in New Canaan? What is your favorite kid-friendly recipe?
I’m always on the hunt for the perfect burger and we actually have several great options in town. Southend Uncorked is my favorite. Their burger and a few #2’s from their cocktail list…perfection. My kids love the chicken dogs at Station Eats.
My best recipe is one that I grew up with. Everybody loves it regardless of their age. If you or your husband are fans of blue cheese, throw some in there…
6 boneless, skinless breasts (thin cut)
1/2 C unsalted butter-melted in a bowl
1/2 tsp garlic salt
3/4 C bread crumbs (I like Progresso Italian Style)
3/4 C grated Parmesan cheese (Kraft)
Mix bread crumbs and cheese in a large Ziploc bag. Blend garlic salt in melted butter. Dip chicken breasts in butter, then in crumb mixture, coating both sides. Roll up and place rolled side down, in a baking dish. Drizzle remaining butter on rolled chicken. Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 30 min; uncover and bake another 20-25 minutes more. Enjoy!!
Anything else you want to add? Feel free to include a business venture, involvement in local organizations, etc.
