1. Can you share the story behind Claudette Styles? What inspired you to create the brand, and how did it all begin?
My love affair with the fashion industry began in high school, when I took my first sewing class and discovered how creativity and craftsmanship could come together to tell a story.
After college- Fashion Institute of Technology, I launched my career in retail, working as a junior executive at Lord & Taylor —gaining experiences that gave me a deep understanding of style, merchandising, and the business of fashion.
In the 1990s, I took a step away from fashion to explore new ventures — first in technology, and later building spec homes in Greenwich with my husband. Those experiences taught me about design from another perspective — structure, detail, and how to bring a vision to life.
But fashion was always my first love. In the early 2000s, I returned to the industry and opened my first boutique in Greenwich, followed by two more locations in town, then three years ago I decided to relocate my store to New Canaan.
Each chapter of my career — from retail floors to construction sites — has been driven by the same passion: creating beautiful experiences that connect people to design, style, and inspiration.
2. What sets Claudette Styles apart from the other fashion and beauty brands? How would you describe your signature style or philosophy
Although our signature style is classic and timeless, we also embrace current trends for the woman who loves her wardrobe to feel fresh and modern.
Our store is thoughtfully curated to serve three generations of women — from the stylish teenage daughter to the modern mom and the elegant grandmother.
With a carefully selected range of pieces — from $30 to $6,000 — we offer something beautiful for every age, every occasion, and every woman who values both quality and style.
We also understand our customers lead busy lives, which inspired our “We Will Bring It To You” (WWBITY) program. If you see something on our website or social media that catches your eye but can’t make it into the store, we’ll bring it to you.
We’ll deliver your selected pieces in your size — and, when available, a size up and a size down — so you can try everything on at home before deciding. If it’s a fit, wonderful. If not, we’ll simply pick it up at your convenience.
3. Walk us through the range of services and offerings. Which services or products do your clients love most?
In addition to our WWBITY (We Will Bring It To You) program, we’re proud to offer the CLAUDETTE Loyalty Program — our way of saying thank you to our valued customers. For every dollar you spend, you earn 1 point, and once you reach 1,000 points, you’ll receive a $50 gift card to use toward your next purchase.
We also believe in giving back to our community. Through our charity partnerships, we donate 25% of total sales from special events directly to local non-profit organizations.
And for a more personal touch, we host Girls’ Night Out events — a fun, private shopping experience where organizers and their guests enjoy exclusive discounts, great company, and a memorable evening of fashion and friendship.
4. How do you tailor your work to meet the unique needs of your clients and community? What’s your approach to helping people feel their most confident and beautiful?
I believe in always being honest with my customers. There are times when I’ll tell someone not to buy a piece they’ve tried on — simply because it’s not the right fit, style, or look for them.
For me, it’s never about making a sale; it’s about making sure every woman feels confident and beautiful in what she wears.
That honesty builds trust — and that trust is what brings customers back, season after season
5. What’s your favorite part about being part of this community?
My favorite thing about being a part of the New Canaan community is the friendliness and warmth I have received. I have only been in this community for three years but I already feel as though I am a part of many families.
6. How has the local community influenced your business and creativity?
During these trying times in the fashion/retail industry the community has encouraged me to hang in there
7. How can the community best support Claudette Styles? Are there ways for locals or clients to get involved or stay connected?

We are hosting a Shop for a Cause event on Thursday, November 13th, from 6–8 PM. It will be an evening of fashion, community, and generosity as we come together to support the incredible work of the Family & Children’s Agency. Guests will enjoy light bites, wine, and prosecco, along with a special shopping discount for the evening. A portion of all sales from the event will be donated to the Family & Children’s Agency — helping make a difference in the lives of local families and children. Bring a friend, sip, shop, and share in an evening that gives back.
