We recently kicked off a new series called Small Business Spotlight. Nancy Joyce, the owner of Inner Light in Darien, spoke to us about her wellness and healing center. In addition to being a wellness entrepreneur, she’s a certified yoga instructor. On her website, she shares a free video library of yoga classes and more!
Please describe Inner Light and the types of services you offer…
Inner Light is a wellness & healing center right here in Darien! We have three private infrared saunas for personal use, a semi private yoga studio with yoga and meditation classes, we hold wellness events and have a full boutique primarily focusing on CBD from female-founded companies!
Besides the saunas, what else is open at Inner Light?
In addition to the saunas, our store is open for shopping and/or curbside pickup! We carry a variety of wellness products from female-founded companies—such as handmade soy wax candles from Flores Lane, essential oils from Vitruvi and clean skincare from Strange Bird Beauty. We also sell CBD—from tinctures, to capsules, gummies, face masks and more!
How can the community best support your business?
The best way the community can support us right now is by spreading the word that we are open—and coming to enjoy the saunas themselves or purchasing gift cards for friends or family to use when they are ready to venture out! Also, follow us on Instagram @innerlightwellness! We are SO grateful for the support!
Can you share any inspirational moments or positive experiences that have come out of the quarantine?
A few positives come right to mind…
I’ve been sheltering in place with my parents and brother and it’s been really wonderful getting to spend this time with them as I find that as we get older, it gets harder and harder to find time when the whole family can be together. As a “non-essential” business, we closed down for over two months. Two months where I had very little to do, other than enjoy the quiet. And I think many of us were in the same situation. It can be challenging to get quiet, to rest, to be still—however it’s been really magical and healing for me to slow down. The quote “Enjoy the little things because one day you’ll look back and realize they were the big things” comes to mind—little things that I maybe once took for granted now hold such importance and meaning. And the environment—It’s as if our beautiful earth has been able to take a deep cleansing breath! Less planes in the sky, less cars on the road, less pollution in the air and seas. I hope we can learn from this and take the steps as we slowly reopen to continue to respect and care for our environment, for nature, for mother earth.
