In honor of its 10-year anniversary in business, Chef Luis Restaurant, located in the heart of New Canaan at 129 Elm Street, is starting a new chapter in its history in the community.  The restaurant is currently undergoing dramatic renovations, with industry veteran and newly-appointed General Manager Sergio Tamburlini leading these changes.
 
Renovations to the restaurant, which are currently underway, are dramatically changing the outdated colors of the restaurant to a cool grey, white and black palette.  Modern chandeliers and bar lighting, fresh tabletop lamps, textured fabric banquettes and chairs and creative wine displays are all on the to-do list for the next few weeks, and to come in 2018, a completely renovated bar adding additional seating.  The restaurant has partnered with Sorelle Art Gallery to provide an extension of their gallery in town, offerings guests a rotating collection of art that is available for purchase.
 
“We are pleased to be working with our neighbors at Chef Luis Restaurant to select artwork that complements the new décor, offering diners the chance to view contemporary pieces that complement the contemporary food on their plates,” said Miranda Girard, Sorelle Art Gallery.  “We will be working with Sergio and his team to provide a rotating gallery from featured artists to continually offer guests a ‘new’ view while dining in the space.”
 
A native of Italy, Tamburlini has more than 25 years of experience in the restaurant industry, holding management positions at restaurants throughout the Greater New York City area, overseeing wine and beverage at The Fireman Hospitality Group in New York City as well as at Mario Batali’s Otto restaurant, and most recently, as General Manager at Bedford Post Inn in Bedford, New York.
 
“I’m excited to be a part of this team as Chef Luis Restaurant undergoes these dramatic changes to continue to offer New Canaan residents a ‘go-to’ spot to dine with their family and friends,” said Tamburlini.  “We have some exciting updates still in the works, but in the meantime, look forward to offering the signature dishes that our guests have come to know and love over the years, while pushing the creativity in the kitchen to offer guests contemporary American and South American cuisine.”
