Love food? You will love what New Canaan has planned for the ‘Seventh Annual Taste of the Town Stroll’ on Thursday, August 24th brought to you by Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices New England Properites and the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce. Do not miss this important annual ‘food-raiser’ – where your New Canaan Food Pantry donation guarantees you a stroll map, listing over 20 participating stores and restaurants offering tasty samples and prizes. This year there are two new ways to be eligible for a stroll map; Bring gently used eyeglasses which will be donated to the Lion’s Club of New Canaan “Recycle for Sight Program” or help Eagle Scout Noah Levine by donating used hearing aids for his Eagle Scout project.

The stroll will begin at 6pm; drop of your donations and pick up your map at the Chamber of Commerce in front of the Movie Theater. Once you have visited all the required locations, your completed map can be returned and entered into the prize draw. Many local businesses have generously donated prizes and once again Le Boudoir has donated the Grand Prize which includes one free blowout per month for one full year!

Food Pantry items needed include: coffee (all types) juice boxes, crackers, pasta sauce, canned stew, canned chicken, mayonnaise, tea bags and family sized snacks. If you don’t want to carry a heavy bag of groceries visit Walter Stewart’s Market, who will be selling “pre-packaged” bags for $15 and $25 each. These bags have a retail value of $25 and $40 each, and are available only thanks to the generosity of Walter Stewart’s Market. Just bring along your receipt to the Stroll and you are good to go! Equally, if you prefer to enjoy an evening of shopping and don’t want to feel rushed, then spend $200 in stores on the evening and you will also be entered into the prize draw. Be sure to save your receipts and simply drop them off at the registration table to be entered to win.

Tucker Murphy says: “This is a night to highlight New Canaan’s generous spirit. Residents donate food, eyeglasses or hearing aids and then businesses reward them with tastes and treats!
