Come explore the magic of spring and Earth Week with the NCNC! Visit the Nature Center’s vernal pools and ponds to listen for the peeps and croaks of frogs and other amphibians that let us know spring is in full swing. Journey through the woods and into the meadows in search of some awesome invertebrates, birds, and bats.

Kids will try to catch the biggest and best trout during the annual fishing derby at Mill Pond in April.
A secret stocking of the pond with plenty of trout will take place ahead of Derby Day. Children ages 15 and younger (ages 10 and younger must be accompanied by an adult) will compete for special prizes awarded in several categories including the first boy and first girl to catch a fish and the largest fish caught. This event is sponsored by the New Canaan Recreation Department with assistance from the Department of Public Works and local merchants.

Early Childhood Discovery Fair
Saturday, April 21
9:30 – 11:00 a.m.
The Discovery Fair is a guided, hands-on exploration of scientific and artistic principles for toddlers, preschoolers and their parents. Activity stations will include: paper-making, paint mixology, clay & wire, transparent collage, obstacle course, wood sculptures, wind tunnel, ramps and sensory tables. The day will end in a group sing-a-long. Participants will receive a complimentary small tote bag gift to take home their creations.
Registration: The event is open to all, but pre-registration is required for headcount and gift bags. For more information, register to attend: www.countryschool.net/discoveryfair.
Weather: Weather permitting, activities will be held both indoors and out. The Discovery Fair will be held rain or shine. Dress for mess!
