Fundraiser to Support Dress for Success Mid-Fairfield County A community initiative to empower local women with confidence
The Loft Salon and Spa has collaborated with several local businesses to celebrate Women’s International Day, a day celebrating the achievements of women in support of the local Dress for Success Mid-Fairfield County chapter. This year the mission for International Women’s Day is to encourage and empower women to be bold for change. The Loft Salon and Spa, Lord & Taylor, Festivities, Lorca, Judy’s Bar and Kitchen, Wagon Wheel, The J House and Fabricare have all joined forces to help offer women with the tools and resources they need to feel positive, look good and remain confident.
On Wednesday night at The Loft Salon and Spa, speakers will highlight ways women may #bebold and make positive changes this year beginning with themselves. Christa Forrest from Creative Souls will speak to her personal and professional transformation, Kendra Porter, Lord & Taylor’s private shopper will point out ways we can make changes in ourselves and Sarah Lewis from Dress for Success will speak about how we can empower change in others.
This spring season, Dress for Success Mid-Fairfield County is in need of accessories and plus size apparel that is interview ready. “People often don’t think about accessories when donating to us and having a new necklace is very exciting for our clients,” said Sarah Lewis, Program Manager. “We are on a mission to empower women during their job search.” “And, once they secure employment we believe that providing professional apparel is part of ensuring that underserved women walk confidently into their interview or next employment opportunity.”
Dress for Success Mid-Fairfield County is on a mission to fully stock their boutique closet with jewelry and accessories. “All items donated need to be nearly new, clean and ready to wear for an interview because our clients don’t always have the means or time to dry clean clothing before an interview,” said Lewis.
“The Loft Salon and Spa’s mission is to empower women to feel beautiful therefore, we can really support Dress for Success’ needs,” said Stephanie Becker, M.D., owner of the salon. “Aligning with local causes where we can truly help make a difference is important to us,” Becker stated. The Loft Salon has collected donations and raffle items for their March 8th event. Raffle Items are being donated to help raise funds for Dress for Success’ clothing boutique. Items include: $100 gift card for a catered and plated party from Festivities, three $100 gift cards from Fabricare for dry cleaning services, $30 gift card from Lorca in Stamford, one painting class for two from Pinot’s Palette, accessory items from Lord & Taylor and a series of three blow dry services and a customized facial from The Loft Salon and Spa.
Dress for Success Mid-Fairfield County — In 2016, 700 disadvantaged women were served who live in Fairfield and New Haven counties. These women in need represent all ages from millennials to baby boomers and all levels of education, from non-degree to Ph.D. candidates. Dress for Success offers an array of services.
