Our action-packed Summer Camp emphasizes fun, hands-on experiences that give children an opportunity to simply “be a kid” while exploring the marvels of nature and making friends. Weekly camp-wide themes inspire young adventurers at age-appropriate levels as they learn and play amidst our 40 acres of ponds, fields, and forest. Budding scientists uncover the mysteries of the natural world while adventure-seekers learn wilderness skills and experience the exhilaration of the great outdoors!
Adventure Camp: Ages 8-15
Adventure Camp sessions offer a range of experiences and new challenges for older campers and outdoor enthusiasts as campers start as Apprentices and strive to become Master Adventures. Here campers gain a greater appreciation for a connection to the natural world through guided exploration, high adventure outdoor activities like paddling and hiking, team challenges and experiments, plus campout-style dinners and overnight excursions on the Nature Center grounds or elsewhere

Camp classes are grouped appropriately by age to help ensure active participation, confidence building and skill learning so that each child will have an enjoyable performance experience.
Students rehearse and perform the selected musical show – learning the songs, staging, choreography and present a fully produced/costumed performance to family and friends in the Conservatory Theatre on their final day.
Junior Company at The Summer Theater of New Canaan:
Middle school students entering 5th-9th grades have the unique opportunity to be a part a 3-week musical theatre performance program running July 10th through July 28th. Students will work with professional theatre artists to mount a musical. The show this year is Singin’ In The Rain based on the hit MGM movie. DramaRamas at The Summer Theatre of New Canaan
The Summer Theatre of New Canaan’s award-winning* DramaRamas program provides performance opportunities for children, ages 8-18, with special needs. Each summer, the DramaRamas rehearse and perform with professional actors an abridged version of one of STONC’s summer shows. Each child will be paired up and mentored by one of our professional actors and theater staff to help them interpret and perform their role. Rehearsals are weekend mornings June 4th through the 24th with a performance on June 26th at the Summer Theatre’s Waveny Tent Theatre in New Canaan. Our very popular School of Rock Camps will get your child rocking this Summer! We have camps for beginners thru advanced players and cover a wide range of musical tastes. Our Performance camps are designed to teach music, build confidence and create memories that will last a lifetime. Kids of all ages and abilities work together to create a real rock experience complete with a show unlike any other. Our camps for younger kids will spark a passion for music that will get them on their musical journey. Let’s Rock!
Camp sessions – one week all-day (10:00am to 3:30pm) – are designed to challenge current students and immerse new students in the School of Rock experience on guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, or vocals. Camps are recommended for students with some experience on their instrument age 9-18.

The Recreation Department Summer Day Camps have established a long-time tradition here in New Canaan. The Waveny Camp has entertained children for over 40 summers on the grounds of the beautiful Waveny House and Park. All camps are open to New Canaan Residents only. Longshore Sailing School offers a wide range of week and two week long programs during the summer for kids 8-16. They have one week specialty programs including things such as intro to Kayaking, Catamaraning and Paddling as well as more advanced programs and racing techniques. The junior core curriculum offers two week sailing sessions based on level.
